La Scie

Bio
La Scie is the recording project of Samuel Gougoux. Based in Montreal since 2017, Gougoux is mostly known for his work as a touring and studio musician as well as a composer across a wide range of projects.
His experience ranges from rock (Corridor, Hélène Barbier) to experimental music (Kee Avil , VICTIME). But also ventured in singer/songwriter (Sieste sur l’oreille droite, with Klô Pelgag and Joseph Mihalcean) as well as folk rock (Jonathan Personne) and pop (Lysandre).
Gougoux has also been commissioned as a composer for several short films (Gender Reveal, La vie heureuse d’Amélie Hardy) as well as a web series (Ça prend pas la tchass à Papineau, for which he won the award for Best Soundtrack at the Rio Webfest). This cinematic work naturally informs and shapes his compositional approach.
It is the convergence of these diverse experiences that gives rise to La Scie, a free yet restrained project, mirroring the musician himself. The project allows Gougoux to explore a more personal and introspective musical territory that does not necessarily surface in his collaborative work. This project may appeal to fans of Mount Eerie, Julia Holter, or Scott Walker.
