Bio
Virginie B's bewitching eccentricity is matched only by her boundless creativity. The singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist offers a unique reappropriation of the codes of hyperpop, incorporating touches of nu-jazz, funk and R&B, all complemented by a refined conceptual approach inherited from pop art and tinged with a pronounced taste for maximalism and glamour. Accompanied by her talented collaborator and co-director Louis Jeay-Beaulieu, she applies this distinctive yet versatile amalgam of styles to the exploration of her psyche, her femininity and her relationship with technology and nature. The result is a vulnerable outlet for her desires and abuses, without taking herself too seriously, reflecting an imposing confidence.
Her latest album, Astral 2000, is one of the first Quebec albums to offer a hyperpop sound, and its originality has nothing to envy the big names in the genre. With this second album, she presents herself as a glib queen, a digital nymph, a timeless creature.
